How to overcome technological, data, and interoperability challenges to population health analytics<\/h2>\nA leading provider of healthcare technologies sought to build an end-to-end solution for value-based care that would give patients real-time visibility into quality and cost performance. This digital platform to connect various discrete healthcare data into a singular and holistic patient record.\n\nThis client\u2014a value-based, precision medicine company leading the industry in real-world data, analytics, and AI capabilities for specialty care organizations\u2014partnered with us to build a holistic population health analytics platform connecting to clinical and billing systems, as well as CMS claims and other sources, and bring those data into a holistic view for the patient.\n\nWe helped the client develop a cloud-based data exchange hub with automated ETL processes to onboard new hospitals and providers faster without sacrificing security and compliance standards (e.g. HIPAA). The solution consisted of two parts:\n

  1. ETLs for clinical and financial data from disparate sources<\/li>\n \t
  2. A new provider-facing web application with predefined and canned reports and self-service data analytics with KPI-based, real-time notifications<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nOur technical team designed a data hub in the AWS cloud by consuming clinical, claims and financial data in raw format and designing proprietary Master Data Management (MDM) with Master Patient Index (MPI) logic for reconciling patient data from various sources. Using an ETL process, we developed datamarts as a source for custom interactive dashboards with drill-down capabilities, enabling individual views of patient data and detailed analysis of practice utilization, performance, and patient risk.\n\nOne particular challenge was expressing data in a uniform manner, which required us to write a complex logic to match data and create a singular record.\n\nUpon launching the solution, the client gained critical clinical and financial insights, as well as one-click registry regulatory reporting. Overall, the system enabled the client to perform cost analyses for specialty treatments and keep an eye on their patient population, recognizing trends before they fully materialized and intervening to maintain patient health.\n
